GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DRESS CODE (pgs 26-27)

It is expected that all students follow the dress code. GWHS will follow all state guidelines and CDC recommendations to keep our students and staff safe which means that masks or face coverings may become required.  Failure to follow the guidelines could result in a parent conference and possibly exclusion from school related activities.

Students are expected to dress as if they are going to work in a professional space. ****All students are expected to wear a George Washington High School Polo, t-shirt, sweatshirt, or a plain black or blue polo as a top. Lanyards with School IDs must be worn at all times.****

A student’s clothing should fit appropriately and should not display profanity, drugs, violent speech, hate speech or other inappropriate topics.

Students shall have the right to dress in accordance with their stated gender identity and/or expression within the constraints of the school’s dress code.

Students must wear apparel that covers the midriff and back. Tube tops, open back/side tops, crop tops are prohibited. All tops must have straps. No hoods on heads. Undershirts and bedtime attire are not to be worn in school.

Footwear:  Bedroom footwear like slippers, slides, flip flops, are unacceptable for safety reasons.

Gym:  Students are required to wear a GWHS gym shirt, navy or gold shirt, and navy sweatpants or shorts.

Because SPECIFIC uniforms are no longer required, students are expected to wear their identification card and lanyard around their necks and it must be visible at all times. If a  student is given a temporary ID it must be presented when asked for.

It is expected that students do not change their clothing after entering the building with the exception of physical education classes.
